_{Look how super long my hair is guys, and this is from last September, it’s gotten much longer!}

Life has been super busy since I got back from China but hey, hi, hello! This is just a little post to let you know that at the end of this month/beginning of then next  I’m cutting off my hair off for charity!! 

I speak about my Grandad a lot, he and my Nanne had a big part in raising me and when I was 15 he passed away after a 6+ year battle with cancer. What not a lot of people know is shortly before he died, I lost my 5 week old cousin to an incredibly aggressive cancerous brain tumour he’d had from birth. A lot more people in my family have been affected by cancer and  thankfully survived, most notably my mother and my aunt. From the point of my grandfather’s death I decided I was going to grow my hair out and at some point be sponsored to cut it off for a the charity Cancer Research. 

As my hair grew, I learnt about a second charity - The Little Princess Trust who make wigs for children under the age of 18. The Little Princess trust takes donations of hair and treat it, strip it of colour and then re-dye it before turning it into custom wigs for children who have illnesses that cause them to lose their hair - be it cancer, alopecia, trichotillomania or any other illness. This spurred me on to grow my hair even longer with the second intention of donating it to this charity.

I never started out with a specific amount of time I was going to grow it for, and my hair has reached ridiculous lengths over the past 5+ years, with some of my friends calling it ‘Disney’. At this point it reaches my bum, but over the past year it has become really heavy and completely unmanageable. I’ve recently considered cutting it off after my graduation to mark the end of my education, but due to the sheer amount of time I spend taking care of it I think if it were to get any longer I’d risk it becoming completely tangled. So the time has come!! This summer I’m getting the chop! 

I’ve set up a JustGiving page (http://www.justgiving.com/georgieandherhair) with a goal of raising £500 for Cancer Research, the total is currently at £222 within 2 days so with your help, I really think we can smash that goal! Donations can be as low as £2 online or £1 with a text donation (Text KYWE77 and your amount to 70070, so for example “KYWE77 £5”.) and if you’re a UK tax payer please don’t forget to gift-aid it! Anything you’re able to spare is wonderful.
